About Us

Guru/Sensei Dawud Muhammad began his Martial Arts training in late 1964 in the Nation of Islam under the guidance of The Fruit of Islam (FOI). Two years later while in the Marine Corps he continued to study whatever art was available, such as Shotokon, Judo and Ju jitsu until his tour of duty was over. In 1972 Sensei Muhammad joined the Mahn Suh Park Tae Kyun Assoc. and studied Tae Kyun, which is one of the oldest Korean Arts taught by Buddhist Monks and is the grandfather to Tang Soo Do under Master Mahn Suh Park where Sensei Muhammad received his 1st Degree Black Belt in 1977. In 1991 Sensei Muhammad began his studies of Kenpo Karate under Mr. Tom Updegrove in Chinese Kenpo known as the Tracy version and later in 1997 under Mr. Mike Cappi studied Kenpo Karate known as the Parker version. Mr. Cappi tested Sensei Muhammad immediately after joining his school and awarded his 1st Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate. Sensei Muhammad immediately began teaching Chinese Kenpo for Mr. Cappi to his younger students while Mr. Cappi taught Sensei Muhammad the Ed Parker version of Kenpo and April 24th, 1998 Mr. Cappi the managing Director of the American Kenpo Karate Association promoted Sensei Muhammad to 2nd Degree Black Belt. Sensei Muhammad during his years of training has attended numerous seminars and training camps under such notables as Richard ‘Huk’ Planas, Larry Tatum, Jeff Speakman, Paul Dye, Dave Hubble, and George Dillman. Ed Parker Jr., Dr. M Gyi, Joe Lewis, Joe Palanzo, William de Thouars, Wally Jay and last but not least, the Grandmaster and Founder of the Filipino Martial Arts, Prof. Remy Presas. Prof. Presas rewarded Sensei Muhammad in July 1998 after 5 years of training in stick, knives and disarms under him in his spare time and made him a Certified Instructor in Modern Arnis, Karate and Ju jitsu.
Sensei Muhammad has now developed a system that combines Kenpo Karate and Ju jitsu into one. Sensei Muhammad believes that both Kenpo and Ju jitsu are Warrior Arts. Sensei Muhammad uses Ju jitsu as prefixes and suffixes in all Ed Parker’s Kenpo Karate techniques and is presently writing a book and making a videotape to explain and show those interested. At the present time his school is charted by the Modern Arnis Federation founded by Grandmaster Prof. Remy Presas, and the World Combat Arts Federation whose president is Grandmaster Lee Epperson. Sensei Muhammad is also a member of the International Federation of Ju-jitsuans whose president is Michael Depasquale Sr. Dai Shihon & Chairman and The World Combat Arts Federation whose president is Grandmaster Lee Epperson and finally Sensei Muhammad is an Associate member of Grandmaster James Ibrao Association. “Grandmaster James Ibrao is Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker’s first Black Belt and the teacher of Grandmaster Al Tracy of Tracy’s Kenpo Karate”.
